School of Art, Design and Media at Nanyang Technological University in Singapore. This 5 story facility sweeps a wooded corner of the campus with an organic, vegetated form that blends landscape and structure, nature and high-tech and symbolizes the creativity it houses. The glass façade provides a high performance building envelope that reduces solar gain and heat load while allowing the benefits of natural views and daylight into creative spaces. The glass walls provide a visual exchange between indoors and out allowing students and teachers to experience the building, the surrounding landscape and the interior plaza as fluid spaces. Diffused natural daylight is abundant throughout studios and classrooms, filtered through the surrounding foliage.

Nørre Kvarters grønne lunger, Phd og publikation

Nørre kvarters byforgrønnelse
udarbejdet at Jens Hvass i PHD

i Kyoto-aftalens CO2-regnskab.'

to typer af vertical green

Green Roof News, 01/2010,

1. Single cable type
Here, the vegetation was climbers, such as thunbergia
grandiflora, that was allowed to cling onto a single
cable (made of stainless steel) from a typical planter
below. The length of climb is typically 4 to 5 metres in
an upright orientation; but on certain floors, the climb
extended to 2 floors or about 8 metres.

2. Mesh type
Especially at the 17th floor, rectangular planter boxes
made of fibre-glass reinforced polymer were placed
adjacent to a series of S-shaped steel mesh and located
at various heights above the floor slab but along
a common wall. There, climbers were used again to
cover the mesh fully in due course.
